Carlsbad City Council Internship with Priya Bhat-Patel: Dr. Priya Bhat-Patel for Carlsbad City Council is recruiting a dynamic team of student and youth leaders to elect a leader who will fight for an equitable recovery for working and middle-class families from the pandemic. As a legislator in the City of Carlsbad, a public health professional, and a working mom with a day job in the domestic violence space, Dr. Priya has first-hand experience bringing polarized communities together and ensuring diverse voices are at the table. To apply please fill out our internship application form. Job Opportunities:

La Costa Glen in Carlsbad is hiring for part-time positions. No experience is required, students must work just two evenings each week and one day or evening each weekend with more hours available. Plenty of opportunity for growth and a great entry point into the restaurant business. In addition, they will work around school schedules

Summer Opportunities:

Many pre-college and summer programs are available! Deadlines for these programs vary widely but are typically anywhere from mid-February through May. SCHS students can view the available summer options in Naviance, under the Colleges tab, and by selecting Enrichment programs. 

Caminos al Futuro (June 27-July 16, 2022): Offered through the George Washington Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute. Caminos al Futuro is a fully funded, pre-college and residential summer program. To be eligible, you must be a rising senior at a U.S. high school with a high-level of academic achievement and a demonstrated commitment to service and leadership within the Latino/Hispanic community. During the three-week intensive program, Caminos scholars examine the social, economic and political transformations affecting the Hispanic/Latino community in a college-like environment. Participants get a first-hand view of policymaking in the nation’s capital with visits to Congress, government agencies and leading non-profits. The program also includes lectures and small-group meetings with university professors and national Latino leaders. The application deadline is March 1st.

Study Abroad Opportunities:

Asse International Student Exchange Programs: Asse programs allow students to study abroad in another country during high school. The programs intend to foster international understanding through educational and cross cultural programs. Please refer to the ASSE website for countries, opportunities, and deadlines.
