Scholarships
In the 2022-23 school year SCHS students were the recipients of over 30 local scholarships earning more than $100,000. It PAY$ to take the time to research scholarship opportunities and apply! The SCHS Counseling department will list current local scholarships below. In addition, students should check the Scholarships tab in Naviance for many other opportunities based on specific criteria. Make sure you are aware of how to avoid scholarship scams.
California State PTA Scholarship ($1000, Requires student membership in PTSA) Recognizes graduating seniors for their volunteer service in schools and communities. Information and application HERE. DEADLINE is February 1st, 2023
Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation - For eligible children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen, Chaplains, and Religious Program Specialists that are pursuing a post-secondary education at any accredited school. Eligibility requirements. Applications HERE. DEADLINE is March 1, 2023.
CEC Speech Competition - The Carlsbad Equality Coalition (CEC) will be hosting a speech competition for middle/high school students across Carlsbad. Information and application HERE. DEADLINE is March 2, 2023.
California Retired Teachers Association North San Diego County - $1000-$1500, for students pursuing a career in the field of education. Information and application HERE. Applications must be submitted electronically by: March 10, 2023.
Italian American Scholarship - $1,000 scholarships to North County high school seniors who have 25 percent Italian heritage. Information and applications are available HERE. DEADLINE is March 11, 2023.
Horatio Alger Association - ($10,000-$25,000 for high school juniors) Information and applications HERE. DEADLINE is March 15th, 2023.
Association of California School Administrators - Region 18 Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), and San Diego County School Boards Association (SDCSBA), will provide ten (10) $1,000 college/university scholarships for high school seniors in the San Diego and Imperial County areas. Please use the attached application and essay form. DEADLINE is March 29, 2023 (4PM).
North County African American Women’s Association (NCAAWA) - For African American females in the community as well as students who have participated in an NCAAWA Mentoring program. Information and applications HERE. DEADLINE is March 31, 2023.
San Diego Chinese Women’s Association - Graduating high school seniors of Chinese descent are invited to apply for merit or need-based scholarships. The one-time award is $1500 for a student entering a four-year college program, or $1000 for a student entering a two-year community college or vocational program. Eligibility requirements and application forms can be found HERE. DEADLINE IS March 31, 2023.
Coastal Community Foundation Scholarship (9 individual scholarships- please review link for eligibility and scholarship requirements*); direct link here - DEADLINE is April 3rd, 2023.
Woman's Club of Carlsbad - $1000, for female seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Must be active in the community.) Information and application HERE. DEADLINE is April 14, 2023.
