Work experience is a great way to learn more about your interests, make money, enhance your resume, and much more. Check out this "Job Search Tips for High School Students" article to learn more about how to find a job and various options for high school students. Students interested in finding a part-time job are welcome to meet with Ms. Yates for help with applications and resumes.

Summer Opportunities:

University of Southern California (USC) Summer Programs: The 4-week, for-credit, college-immersion program offers high school students university experience in a subject area of their choice. Courses are interactive, engaging and challenging, allowing students to explore new areas of study or build on their high school coursework. Visit the USC Summer Programs website for more information and to apply by May 7th.

The Stanford Neurodiversity Project's Research, Education, and Advocacy Camp for High Schoolers (SNP-REACH) is a free, two-week summer camp for high school students across the U.S. to learn more about neurodiversity research and advocacy. Program will be held via Zoom from Monday, July 19 - Friday, July 30, from 9am - 3pm. Student must apply online by April 18th.

2021 Coro Youth Fellows Program: 6-week immersive, cohort-based summer program for rising high school juniors and seniors. This program is designed to foster the next generation of Southern California leaders, educating them not just about public life and institutions, but also how they can be more effective advocates and ambassadors for their communities. Applications are due April 25th.

San Diego State University: Creative Mind Academy Summer Institute: The Creative Mind Academy (CMA) is a Summer institute for high school students in grades 11 and 12 from the US and all over the world. Over the course of 4 weeks, students complete 6 transferable college units at San Diego State University’s (SDSU) beautiful campus. Programming consists of theory-based, and hands-on courses that prioritize experiential learning and creative expression. Program runs from July 5 - July 25th, visit the SDSU CMA website for more information and to apply.

UC Davis Young Scholars Program: Summer research opportunities primarily in the biological and natural sciences for rising juniors and seniors. Participants will work remotely with research faculty and research groups to participate in a virtual symposium. UC San Diego SWAG Program (Students With Academic Goals): SWAG is a free, two-week college readiness program open to students in grades 9, 10 and 11. View the flyer for more information and note priority is given to low-income and first generation students. Applications are due April 25. Program dates: June 21-July 2. 

Internship and Leadership Opportunities:

Maryott for Congress internship opportunity: Students with a passion and drive for politics will gain valuable experience in fields such as government, political science, public affairs, communications, and law by tackling projects in voter outreach and data refinement. The internship requires a 4-hour weekly time commitment with the possibility of paid opportunities. View the Internship Flyer for more information.
